Job Description

Webuild ( is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations of a rapidly growing residential development firm in the San Francisco Bay Area marketplace.

The ideal individual we are seeking would have 8+ years of experience working in construction finance and currently responsible for managing all aspects of financial reporting related to a development operations. This would include management of daily accounting processes (A/R, A/P, P/R, GL, Job Costing, Banking, etc.,), historical / anticipatory budgeting, projections, closeouts, financial reporting, operational / control procedures and staff management for running a financially efficient organization.

The controller will be tasked with the responsibilities for developing, implementing and enforcing the financial operating procedures/polices for the organization, as well as, management of daily accounting activities related to A/R, A/P, Job Cost, Reconciliations, GL, Lien and banking.

The Controller will also be managing the budgeting process and ensuring that all project budgets entered into the accounting systems reflect contractual or estimated contractual liabilities and reporting all financial results in conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) together with financial and accounting policies.

As with most organizations today, the Controller will additionally be tasked with implementation and utilization of electronic accounting systems (QuickBooks, Oracle, ViewPoint) deployed in the organization and utilizing them to full capability to close out monthly, quarterly and yearly financial results; assisting with preparation of state/federal taxes as required.

The Controller will be expected to perform in both the financial and operational capacities of the business; working with the senior management team and as the liaison between parent operations and regional offices as it relates to accounting and finance issues.

You will directly supervise at least two or more employees in the Accounting Department and be responsible for interviewing, hiring and training employees, as well as, planning / assigning work and evaluating performance as required.

Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline. CPA registration a plus for consideration. Must have excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Position is based in the Pleasanton / Walnut Creek area. Alternatively an individual could work form the Santa Rosa or San Francisco offices if necessary.
